New Delhi: Akshay Kumar's upcoming film 'Prithviraj's title has been changed. The title which had generated a lot of controversy around its name when Karni Sena, a political organization of Rajasthan, opposed it has now been changed to 'Samrat Prithviraj'.
In an offocial correspondence from the CEO of Yash Raj Films, ABP Live has learnt that the producers of the film have agreed to change the title as per Karni Sena's demand to 'Samrat Prithviraj'.
The content of the letter said, "We sincerely appreciate your effort in alerting us about your grievance in relation to the current title of teh fFilm, an dassure you that we did not, and do not, intend to hurt the sentiments of any person(s) or disrespect the late king and warrior, Prthiviraj Chauhan..."
"As per the multiple rounds of discusiion between us, and to peacefully and amicably resolved the raised grievance, we will change the title of the Film to 'Samrat Prithviraj'. We are highly appreciatuve of the mutual agreement reached between is that you have no further objections with regards to our Film..."
Surjeet Singh Rathore, from the Karni Sena spoke to ABP Live and said that Karni Sena had been in talks with Yash Raj Films about getting 'Prithviraj's name changed since the last two years. However, only after the teaser and the trailer launch, the talks intensified.
He also added that he kept receiving intimation from the CEO of Yash Raj, Akshaye Widhani, that the name of the film will be chnaged and now, it has been finally changed to 'Samrat Prithviraj'.
Other than the title, the Karni Sena has no objections with the content of Akshay Kumar's 'Prithviraj' which they have already seen.
'Samrat Prithviraj' stars Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar.
Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi of 'Chanakya' fame, 'Samrat Prithviraj' will release on 3rd June 2022.
