New Delhi: Ajay Devgn, Siddharth Malhotra starrer 'Thank God' released in theatres on the long Diwali weekend besides Akshay Kumar, Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer 'Ram Setu'. Both films have fared well thanks to the holiday. While 'Ram Setu' collected Rs. 15.25 crores, 'Thank God' opened with Rs. 8.10 crores, reported Taran Adarsh.

According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "#ThankGod relied completely on spot bookings on the biggg #Diwali holiday… Although Day 1 biz is not proportionate with the names attached, the biz gathered speed towards evening onwards… Needs to grow/jump in the long, *extended* weekend… Tue ₹ 8.10 cr. #India biz."

'Thank God' has also received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. Interestingly, according to a report in the Indian Express, 'Thank God' has not done really well in the North belt where both Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra have a huge/loyal fan base.

Despite 'Thank God' and 'Ram Setu' releasing on the weekend, 'Kantara' ( Hindi) version is doing excellent business at the box office. As per Taran Adarsh, "#Kantara *#Hindi version* withstands the opposition posed by new releases [#RamSetu, #ThankGod, #BlackAdam], biz sees an upward trend on #Diwali… [Week 2] Fri 2.05 cr, Sat 2.55 cr, Sun 2.65 cr, Mon 1.90 cr, Tue 2.35 cr. Total: ₹ 26.50 cr. #India biz. Nett BOC."

'Thank God' is a Hindi fantasy social comedy film directed by Indra Kumar. It is also the remake of the Danish film 'Sorte Kugler'. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh.
