Even as vaccination against the novel coronavirus has begun across the country, Tamil actor Suriya on Sunday revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19 and requested the people to be cautious when they step out.
The 45-year-old actor, who was last seen in ‘Soorarai Pottru’ based on the life of Air Deccan founder Captain G. R. Gopinath, took to microblogging site Twitter to inform that he has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

“I have been diagnosed with coronavirus, and I am recovering well. Let’s realise that life hasn’t yet returned to normalcy. We can’t stay back home due to fear, but we must be cautious and careful. My love and thanks to all dedicated, supportive physicians,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, India has scaled another global peak in its fight against Covid-19. India has become the third topmost country in the world in terms of the number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered. Only the United States and the United Kingdom remain ahead of India.

Over 57 lakh beneficiaries have received the vaccine under the countrywide Covid-19 vaccination exercise. The cumulative vaccination coverage includes 53,04,546 healthcare workers and 4,70,776 frontline workers.
