Malayalam megastar Mammootty is witnessing the 50th glorious year in Indian film industry this year. And on this occasion, Kerala govt was planning a felicitation event marking veteran actor’s remarkable contribution to the Indian cinema.
No celebration with public money
However, the Mollywood superstar has reportedly refused the state govt’s idea of celebrating the felicitation event. Apparently, Mammootty has been an avid philanthropist and he knows the value of public money following which he refused to have the golden jubilee celebration by Kerala govt.
Kerala govt’s grand plan
Earlier, the Minister of Kerala State Film Development Corporation and Chalachithra Academy, Saji Cherian said that the state government would felicitate the actor in a special event.
Case against Mammootty
According to a report on News 18, Kerala police recently registered a case against actor Mammootty, comedian Ramesh Pisharody and 300 others for allegedly violating COVID-19 protocol during an inaugural event of a medical facility at a hospital.
Humble beginning
Every journey starts from a humble beginning, Mammootty started his film career as a junior actor. He debuted in Anubhavangal Paalichakal in 1971 in a supporting role and played a lead actor in Vilkanundu Swapnangal released in 1980.
50 spectacular years in showbiz
The veteran superstar has worked in 400 films including in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and English languages. Mammootty is a Padma Shri recipient and has bagged many prestigious awards including the National Film Awards, Kerala State Film Awards in his 50 years of spectacular career in Indian cinema.
