New Delhi: Cricketer KL Rahul and Actress Athiya Shetty tied the knot on January 23 in the presence of family and friends. Soon after their wedding, rumours started doing the rounds about the gifts the couple received. 


Many media reports stated that Athiya’s father Suniel Shetty gifted his daughter a luxurious apartment in Mumbai which is worth Rs 50 crore. Apart from this, there were also reports of Salman Khan gifting the couple an Audi car worth Rs 1.64 crore, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli gifting a BMW car worth Rs 2.17 crore and Mahendra Singh Dhoni giving Rahul a Kawasaki Ninja bike worth Rs 80 lakh. 


Suniel Shetty and his family have denied all the rumours of gifting an apartment to the newly-married couple in a statement given to ABP News. The statement reads, “All the reports published are absolutely baseless and not true we request the press fraternity to confirm details with us before publishing such incorrect information in public domain.” 


KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty got married at the Khandala farmhouse of her father. Over 100 guests reportedly attended the wedding. The couple had imposed a strict no-phone policy for the guests. 


Rahul and Athiya shared the first photos from their wedding on Instagram after the ceremony.  Sharing a few pictures from the wedding venue, Athiya wrote,"In your light, I learn how to love…Today, with our most loved ones, we got married in the home that’s given us immense joy and serenity. With a heart full of gratitude and love, we seek your blessings on this journey of togetherness." 






The wedding reception will be held once the Indian Premier League gets completed given Rahul has work commitments in the cricket league. 


Both Athiya and Rahul have their roots in Karnataka. While Rahul was born in the state capital Bengaluru, Athiya who was born in Mumbai and is of Tulu descent with her father Suniel Shetty belonging to Mangalore.
