New Delhi: Sara Ali Khan has admitted to gaslighting her parents Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, along with her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan. She said that she and her brother, who were raised by their mother after their parents divorced, would often use the "victim card" to get what they wanted from their father, Saif.
On the work front, Sara is currently promoting her upcoming film 'Gaslight' along with Vikrant Massey and Chitrangda Singh. 'Gaslight' will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31st.
Sara was questioned by Bollywood Bubble whether she and her younger brother Ibrahim had ever gaslighted her parents. To which Sara replied, "Sometimes, we played the victim card. Like the obvious way, in my family dynamic. Like, ‘Abba is not here mummy, give this to us,’ at the age of 11, or, ‘Abba, you don’t live with us, give this to us,’ at the age of 15."
She further said, "Replace 11 and 15 with 26. Even at the age of nine-year-old, I think I had the maturity to see that these two people living together in our home were not happy."
Talking about her parent's divorce, she said, "Suddenly, they were much happier living in two new homes. For instance, my mom, who I don’t think had laughed in 10 years, was suddenly happy, beautiful, and excited, like she deserves to be. Why would I be unhappy if I have two happy parents in two happy homes?"
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh tied the knot in January 1991 and split up in 2004. On August 12, 1995, Sara was born, and on March 5, 2001, Ibrahim was born. Later, Saif married actress Kareen Kapoor in 2012. They have two sons, Jehangir Ali Khan and Taimur Ali Khan.
