Several leaders from the Trinamool Congress party have come forward with claims that a woman employed at the Raj Bhavan has alleged sexual harassment by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose. However, the Governor has strongly refuted these allegations, dismissing them as “engineered narratives”. Here are the top points.

  1. A war of words emerged between TMC and Bengal Governor, ever since the news broke. TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose in a video statement posted on X targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his visit to the state. She asked if PM Modi, who will be staying in Raj Bhavan during his Bengal visit, would seek a response from the Governor on these allegations.

  2. "It is to be noted that the allegations came the day PM Modi is scheduled to visit the state. He is going to stay at Raj Bhavan during his visit. Is he going to ask the Governor for any clarifications?" Sagarika said.

  3. Responding to the accusations, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh told ANI, "This is nothing new. This is TMC's politics. I don't know how low they will stoop..."

  4. According to the TMC leaders, the woman who made allegations has approached the Kolkata Police to file a complaint.

  5. In an X post, the TMC said, “Shocking details emerging in the Raj Bhavan molestation case! Sexual assault survivor reveals more women were harassed in similar manner! PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah should ensure justice for these victims if they truly believe in ‘Nari Ka Samman’”.

  6. Governor CV Ananda Bose has vehemently denied the accusations, describing them as an effort to tarnish his reputation.

  7. “Truth shall triumph. I refuse to be cowed down by engineered narratives. If anybody wants some election benefits by maligning me, God Bless them. But they cannot stop my fight against corruption and violence in Bengal,” CV Ananda Bose said. ‘

  8. Bose’s statement was directed towards the Raj Bhavan staff who stood in solidarity with him against what he referred to as “derogatory narratives circulated by two disgruntled employees as agents of political parties”.

  9. Indira Mukherjee, DC (Central) of Kolkata Police, confirmed that a molestation complaint against the Governor was lodged at 5 PM. “We are enquiring into it. We cannot share when the incident took place. As per the complaint, the incident took place inside Raj Bhavan. She complained that several times this has happened,” the official stated.

  10. The police declined to provide further details at this stage of the investigation.
