New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit election-bound Uttarakahand on February 5. It is largely being seen as a move to boost the morale of the party workers in the state ahead of the assembly election.
This is the second time that the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the state in order to campaign for the Uttarakhand election 2022. The programme was scheduled after the list of start campaigners was released by the Congress party on Wednesday.
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi will hold virtual campaign in Haridwar and Haldwani districts. Uttarakhand Congress in-charge Devendra Yadav confirmed the schedule to News agency ANI.
"Rahul Gandhi to visit Uttarakhand on February 5.He will hold a virtual poll rally in Haridwar and Haldwani," said Yadav.
On Wednesday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with releasing the election manifesto in Dehradun, addressed rallies in 70 assembly constituencies through virtual medium.
Uttarakhand, along with four other states - Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab and Manipur - will go to the polls in the upcoming assembly elections.
Assembly election in Uttarakhand will be held on February 14, 2022 and the results will be declared on March 10.
In the 2017 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 56 out of the total 70 seats. The Congress party had managed to bag 11 seats.
