New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party, on Sunday evening, released another list with 45 names for the upcoming UP assembly elections. The interesting fact is the constituencies that have been given to candidates amid a myriad of shifts of MLAs to and fro in BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP).

The party has fielded Sanjay Sinh from Amethi. Sinh hails from the royal family of Amethi and had joined BJP in 2019 after quitting Congress. Amethi is currently represented by Sinh’s wife Garima Singh.

On the other hand, Manish Jaiswal was given the ticket from Padrauna instead of RPN Singh, both of whom recently quit Congress to join BJP. Padrauna is currently represented by Swami Prasad Maurya who recently left BJP to join SP.

The party has fielded Daya Shankar Sigh from Ballia Nagar. However, Singh and his wife Swati Singh wanted the ticket from Sarojini Nagar, which is currently represented by the latter. The ticket for this constituency has been given to former ED officer, Rajeshwar Singh.

The party has also fielded Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan’s son Ramvilas Chauhan from the Madhuban constituency in the Mau district. This seat is currently represented by Dara Singh Chauhan who recently quit BJP and joined SP.

The party has also dropped some sitting MLAs like Surendra Singh, and fielded state minister Anand Swaroop Shukla from Bairia. Meanwhile, Vandana Singh, who recently joined BJP after quitting the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has been given the same seat she earlier fought on, that is Sagri in Azamgarh district.

The party has fielded Alka Rai from Muhammadabad and state minister Sangeeta Balwant Bind from the Ghazipur Assembly constituency in the Ghazipur district.

The Uttar Pradesh assembly elections that will decide the fate of 403 constituencies, and ultimately the state, are set to take place in seven phases, starting February 10. The results of the elections will be declared on March 10.
