New Delhi: With only a few weeks till the high-octane Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Union Minister Amit Shah has intensified his attacks on opposition parties while campaigning for the BJP. Recently, while campaigning in Muzaffarnagar, Union Home Minister took a jibe at the SP-RLD alliance saying that the alliance will continue only till counting.

"If their (SP) govt is formed, then Azam Khan will sit (in their govt) and Jayant Bhai will be out. Their candidates' list can say what will happen after elections," Shah was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, describing himself and his alliance partner, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary, as "sons of farmers," Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav in a press conference warned farmers on Saturday to be wary of the BJP, alleging that the saffron party-led Centre had withdrawn the contentious farm laws solely for the sake of votes.

Recently in order to gain jat votes in the upcoming polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the Jat leaders on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by around 200 Jat leaders.

"We have demanded Bharat Ratna for (former PM) Chaudhary Charan Singh, reservation for Jats & proportionate representation in Central & UP Govts. The HM has responded positively," an attendee told ANI.

After the meeting, on the SP-RLD alliance, BJP MP Parvesh Verma said, "On (RLD chief) Jayant Chaudhary, he (HM Amit Shah) said that there are many possibilities after the polls. For now, he has chosen a party. People of Jat community will speak to Jayant. BJP's doors are always open for him."

In response to the offer, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary had denied the possibility of joining hands with BJP, reported news agency ANI.

“They (BJP) did nothing for farmers. The police force was used against students in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh two days back. In such an environment, how can they think that anyone would join hands with them?” Chaudhary said.

Earlier on Friday, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav while addressing a joint press conference with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary, who on the occasion said his party's alliance with the SP is "solid."

Today, Union Home Minister Shah is engaged in a day-long public event including door-to-door campaigns in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. This is Mr Shah's second public appearance in Uttar Pradesh in three days, beginning with Mathura and Greater Noida on Thursday.

After Muzaffarnagar, Shah's third event as a door-to-door campaign will begin from 2.10 pm in Deoband in Saharanpur.
