New Delhi: In a first courtesy the ban on physical rallies in the poll-bound states in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the poll campaigning in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh has given a boost to the saree business in Gujarat’s textile market of Surat.


This as sarees with 3-D prints of the faces of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on it has been made by a cloth merchant from Surat.


The saree, with the BJP flag, also has the slogan written in Hindi “Jo Ram Ko Laaye Hain Hum Unhein Layenge UP Mein Hum Phir Se Bhagwa Layenge” while referring to the construction of the Ram Janmabhhomi Temple in Ayodhya.


The cloth merchant has also made fabric with prints of the Ram Mandir, different ghats of Varanasi and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor on these unique sarees, which are in great demand by the BJP workers in the run up the high-voltage Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.


The saffron party workers intention is to distribute these sarees among the women so that they wear the fabric and boost the BJP’s election campaign in Uttar Pradesh.


In tune with the same, the traders from Surat are planning to send these sarees in bulk to Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections.


Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.


Polling will be held on 58 assembly seats in the first phase on February 10. This will be followed by second phase of polling on 55 seats on February 14.


In the third phase on February 20, 59 assembly seats will go to the polls, while 60 seats will go to polls in the fourth phase on February 23.


Polling will be held on 60 assembly seats in the fifth phase on February 27, 57 seats in the sixth phase on March 3 and 54 seats in the seventh phase on March 7.


The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
