Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) and demanded strict action against the attackers.
“I had to come to [the] EC as after the first and second phases of Uttar Pradesh elections, Akhilesh started sweating. His workers and goons are instigating violence,” he told news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, Union minister Piyush Goyal also reacted to the incident who was quoted by ANI saying, "The mafia raj and criminal activities that Uttar Pradesh saw before 2017, created an environment of fear. It never let UP become a developed state. It stayed a BIMARU state. People were subjected to atrocities, it was the calling card of Samajwadi Party".
After the attack on the convoy, Baghel has been given Z-category security by the central government, that is, now the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel will be responsible to protect him.
Baghel is contesting against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as a BJP candidate from the Karhal assembly.
