New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit poll-bound Tripura today where he will hold two election rallies. He is scheduled to address the first rally at Ambassa in Dhalai district at around 12 noon after which he will travel to Gomati where he will speak at around 3 pm, reported news agency ANI quoting Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. 


Saha, BJP state incharge Mahesh Sharma and other leaders will welcome Modi in the state. As per the report citing sources from the party, Modi will also visit the state on February 13. 


The incumbent party has declared candidates for 55 assembly seats while leaving the remaining five seats for its ally, Indigenous People’s Front Of Tripura (IPFT). The Left-Congress alliance has also announced candidates for all the 60 seats in the state.

Polls to the 60-member Tripura Legislative Assembly will be held on February 16, whereas elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held on February 27. The counting of votes for all the three states will be held simultaneously on March 2. 


The manifesto for Tripura, Sankalp Patra, was released by BJP national President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday. 


While addressing the public meeting, Nadda said, "When BJP brings out a 'Sankalp Patr', a vision document, it's not only a piece of paper, it is BJP's commitment towards the people." Nadda further said, "Tripura was once known for blockades and insurgency. The state is now known for peace, prosperity and development."

"13 lakh Ayushman Bharat health cards have been given in Tripura, with Rs 107 crores given in settlement, till now,” he added. 


JP Nadda launched a scathing attack on the Congress-Left alliance in Tripura ahead of the Assembly election and said the alliance was "opportunistic in nature" and had "no ideology".
