Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stated that over one crore women had become 'Lakhpati Didis' as a result of different government projects while speaking at the Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat programme in Delhi, news agency PTI reported. While addressing the gathering, PM Modi stated that his third term will write a new chapter in rise of women power.

He claimed that opposition parties such as Congress ridiculed and attacked him everytime he spoke on women's empowerment from the Red Fort. "Whenever I spoke of women empowerment from Red Fort, parties like Congress mocked, insulted me," he stated.

Highlighting "women empowerment", PM Modi stated: "A country can move forward only if it creates opportunities for women. The previous government, however, never prioritised the issues faced by women. They left you all to your faith. I feel that if our mothers and sisters get a little bit of support, then they can become a support for others."

"After coming to power in 2014, I made schemes for each and every part of a women's life cycle and launched them successfully," he added.

During the programme, 'Namo Drone Didis' from various differrent regions of the nation took part in the drone demonstration. PM Modi also handed over drones to 1,000 Namo Drone Didis in the national capital.

PM Modi's Namo Drone Didi and Lakhpati Didi projects aim to promote women's economic empowerment and financial autonomy, particularly in rural regions. With these activities that match with PM's goal, 15,000 self-help groups will be connected to the 'Namo Drone Didi' program.
