New Delhi: As the process of electioneering catches pace in Telangana, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) held meetings exclusively for women in different constituencies ahead of the December 7 assembly elections.

The AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi took to Twitter and wrote: “Today, I attended the last of the Ladies Group Meetings for this election season.”

He said he has learnt a lot from the meetings and hoped to participate in them more frequently. “The affection & courage that I saw in these meetings will stay with me forever”, he tweeted on Tuesday.

The all women’s meeting had been held at Malakpet, Bahadurpura, Tolichowki, Charminar, Yakutpura and Nampally in Hyderabad.

In an earlier statement Owaisi had said that for the elections AIMIM is organising women-only events in each constituency. He said these events enable him and the party candidates to learn about the problems of women voters and work hard for their grievances.

The Hyderabad MP had earlier said that his party would take up work on housing, healthcare and social security.  Housing, including high rents for rented accommodation, and healthcare are some of the main issues that surfaced in these meetings, PTI reported.

AIMIM has so far declared candidates for eight Assembly segments in the city. It had seven members in the recently-dissolved Assembly. In August, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had attended an interactive meeting here with the members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

In September, BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani had also addressed a women's meeting organised by the party near Medak.
