Chevella BRS MP Ranjith Reddy and Khairatabad BRS MLA Danam Nagender joined the Congress party in a ceremony attended by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday. Reddy had announced his resignation from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), adding another blow to the party's roster.
Reddy cited shifting political dynamics as the primary motive behind his departure from the BRS. In a statement to X, he expressed, "Due to evolving political circumstances, I have made this difficult decision to submit my resignation."
Making his decision public on X, Reddy conveyed, "I’m writing to inform all my supporters and people that I have submitted the formal letter of resignation to the BRS party. I would like to convey my gratitude to the BRS party for the meaningful opportunity provided & the cooperation extended in my service to the people of Chevella constituency."
Ranjith Reddy becomes the third MP, following BB Patil and Pothuganti Ramulu, to depart from the BRS. Earlier instances saw Patil and Ramulu crossing over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The trend of defections intensified after the Congress triumphed over the BRS in the Telangana Assembly election, prompting several former ministers and MLAs to switch sides and align with the ruling party.
