Telangana Assembly Elections: The CPI(M) on Sunday announced its first list of 14 candidates for the Legislative Assembly elections in Telangana. The party has fielded its state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram from Palair in Khammam district, while former MLA Julakanti Ranga Reddy would seek re-election from Miryalguda.
CPI(M) had earlier announced its decision to contest from 17 seats, Veerabhadram told reporters, as reported by the news agency PTI. He stated the party is holding discussions on fielding candidates from a couple of more seats. Polling for the 119-member Telangana Assembly would be held on November 30.
Meanwhile, a total of 100 candidates filed their nomination papers on the first day of nomination on November 3 for the upcoming elections in Telangana, as reported by PTI. Among those who filed nominations were Telangana PCC president A. Revanth Reddy (Kodangal) and Tummala Nageswara Rao (Khammam).
According to a notification issued by the Election Commission, Telangana Assembly polls are set to be held on November 30. As per the notification, the nomination filing process for the poll began, and they would be accepted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on working days until November 10.
The nominations would be scrutinised on November 13, and November 15 is the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures, according to the schedule of the election.
