Despite a crushing setback against the BJP in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot won the Saradarpura seat. When addressing the media, the former Chief Minister dismissed the necessity for 'fresh faces' inside Congress. On Sunday evening, Gehlot offered his resignation as Chief Minister of Rajasthan to Governor Kalraj Mishra at the Raj Bhavan. Dr. Mahendra Rathore of the BJP was beaten by Gehlot by 26396 votes. The counting of voting for 200-member
