RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday defended a video showing him eating fish in a helicopter, after it sparked a controversy since several users claimed that he was consuming non-vegetarian food during the ongoing 9-day festival of Navratri. During this Hindu festival, devotees fast and follow strict vegetarian diet.

After several internet users pointed this out and slammed Tejashwi Yadav for eating fish and trying to provoke Hindus, the former Deputy chief minister responded and issued a clarification for the video. Pointing out that his post was from April 8, a day before the Navratri began, Yadav stated that the video had been uploaded to test the IQ of BJP and the Godi media followers. "We were proved right in our thinking," he added.

Stressing that the video was dated before Navratri began, Tejashwi Yadav also said that he had been moving around with Mukesh Saini from the last 3-4 days. The video, shared by Yadav was captioned: "Food in helicopter amidst the hustle and bustle of election! Date- 08/04/2024."

In the video Yadav also described how they got only 10-15 minutes to have lunch due to the hectic election campaigning. He then went on to show the food he was having— fish and roti, which sparked the debate.

"I posted it there because I wanted to take an IQ test of BJP leaders. I have discussed the date that is of April 8 in the video. They don't have the knowledge and they never talk about issues like unemployment, migration and poverty. This is the test so that the people could know the reality of the people of BJP," he clarified.

Earlier today BJP MP Giriraj Singh slammed Tejashwi Yadav calling him a "seasonal Sanatani".
