Rajasthan Elections: Rajasthan BJP leader Jitendra Meena has been expelled from the party for contesting the upcoming state election from Bassi constituency against the officially declared candidate of the party, news agency ANI reported.
Bassi, a seat designated for scheduled tribe candidates, is set for a runoff between two former bureaucrats. Laxman Meena, a former Indian Police Service (IPS) official, is the Congress nominee, whereas Chandramohan Meena, a retired IAS official, is the BJP contender. Laxman, a seasoned politician, is the current independent MLA, whereas Chandramohan is entering electoral politics for the first time. For the previous three assembly elections, the seat in Jaipur's backyard has elected independent candidates.

Rajasthan Elections 2023
Rajasthan will vote on November 25, with result is scheduled to be declared on December 3. The date had previously been set for November 23, but the Election Commission rescheduled it due to a high number of big-scale weddings and social events on that date.

The current Rajasthan assembly's term will conclude in January 2024. The election will take place in 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan.
The Congress won 99 seats in the 2018 elections, falling two seats shy of a majority of 101. They did, however, stage a stunning return by gaining the backing of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came in second place with 73 seats.
