Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a dig at Odisha Chief Minister and Naveen Patnaik saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not take any action aginst the Biju Janata Dal supremo if he fights against the saffron party. Addressing a rally in Odisha's Balasore, Rahul said that multiple actions are taken against him if he fights against the BJP but the same does not happen with Patnaik because he works for BJP in the state.
"I fight against the BJP and they have filed 24 cases against me that include defamation and criminal cases. They took away my Lok Sabha membership and sentenced me to a two-year jail term. ED interrogated me for 50 hours," Rahul said, questioning "But, if Naveen Babu really fights against the BJP, why no cases have been filed against him."
He went on to say that the nothing happens against Patnaik because he "works for BJP here".
"They both are one and their partnership is running in the state. It is clear that the aim of partnership is to snatch away the wealth and mines," he added.
Ahead of his rally, the Wayanad MP reiterated that the party will scrap the Agniveer policy, if it comes to power in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
"We are going to cancel the Agniveer (Scheme). The prime minister has turned jawans into labourers, we will turn jawans into jawans once again," he added.
Voting will take place in six Lok Sabha constituencies across Odisha in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls on June 1. The constituencies where polling will take place includes Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur.
