BJP Resolves To Create New Punjab Based On 11 Pillars: Amit Shah

Earlier today addressing a public rally in Amritsar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed the Bharatiya Janata Party's vision of a "new Punjab", which includes a drug and mafia-free state, ANI reported.

In Amritsar, Shah said that the BJP and the NDA administration have decided to build a new Punjab on 11 pillars, the first of which is "peace and brotherhood." He later went on to list other pillars as "Mafia-free Punjab. Drug-free Punjab. Employment for all. Prosperous farmer. Free from sickness, healthy Punjab. Right to education for all. Promotion of industrialization. Boost in infrastructure. Strong and respected woman. Growth for all (Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas).”

He came down heavily on the incumbent Punjab government for the security lapse during PM Narendra Modi's Ferozepur visit: "PM Modi had come with tremendous zeal to visit the people of Punjab, but the Punjab government could not even do anything to keep his road secure. Those who could not maintain PM Modi's road security would not be able to keep Punjab safe."

“PM Modi wants to secure Punjab. He wants to do good for the farmers of Punjab. He wants to make Punjab drug-free. A government is needed in Punjab which will walk shoulder to shoulder with PM Modi,” he added.

Shah Slams Kejriwal For Having No Sikh Representation In His Twice-Formed Govt

Targeting Aam Aadmi Party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal, the senior BJP leader questioned why the Delhi Chief Minister had no Sikh representation in his government.

"Kejriwal ji you should reply to the people of Punjab of why did you not make a single Sikh minister even after your government was formed twice with an absolute majority in Delhi," he said.

"Whenever the BJP government is formed at the Center, the Sikh community has definitely been given representation in it," he added.

He has previously addressed large gatherings in Ludhiana and Patiala.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Hema Malini, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal were among the prominent leaders that campaigned throughout the state today.

Punjab will see a single-phase election on February 20 and vote counting will take place on March 10.

In the 2017 Punjab Assembly election, Congress secured an absolute majority with 77 seats, deposing the SAD-BJP administration that had been in office for ten years.
