Goa Elections 2022: Pramod Sawant, the incumbent chief minister of Goa is set to continue as the CM of state for the next term as well, sources tell ABP News.

This news comes after a lot of speculation about who would be the CM face of BJP in Goa.  It was reported that Vishwajit Rane was lobbying to become the CM. Other reports also stated that a non-BJP face could be made CM. All these speculations can be put to rest now.

Pramod Sawant's name will be formally announced after the legislature party meeting. He reached Delhi on Tuesday to meet the top brass of BJP and take a decision on the next step about Goa's leadership.

The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar & L Murugan as the central observer and co-observer, respectively for Goa.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in Goa, winning 20 seats in the 40-member state Assembly, leaving Congress with 11 seats at a distant second position. The BJP fell one seat short of the majority figure in Goa but is set to retain power in the state with the help of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak (MGP) and independent candidates.

Vishwajit Rane had met the governor last week that ignited the conversation about Goa's new CM. However, he maintained that his visit to Governor was personal and not political. In his tweets, he also blamed a local news channel for spreading misinformation about his visit to the Governor of state.
