Meerut (UP): Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a full-tilt attack against the Opposition coalition in Uttar Pradesh by coning a new acronym ‘Sarab’ (liquor). Addressing a rally in Meerut, he said the consumption of this alliance liquor would destroy the health of the state.

"Sapa (Samajwadi Party) ka 'sa', RLD ka 'Raa' aur Baspa (BSP) ka 'ba', matlab 'sharab'. For UP's good health and for India's future, shouldn’t one stay away from sarab? Sapa, RLD, Baspa will destroy you, Modi said.

Enraged by his comments, the Congress demanded his apology while the Samajwadi Party hit out at PM saying he doesn’t even understand the meaning between ‘Sarab’and ‘Sharaab’.

'SARAB'  enters the list of the other acronyms he has used to attack the Congress and other Opposition parties. Some of them are -

RSVP—Rahul, Sonia, Vadra, Priyanka
ABCD—Adarsh, Bofors, Coal and Damaad
SCAM—Samajwadi Party, Congress, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati

Modi also attacked the opposition parties for raising questions over India's air strikes against Pakistan and its capabilities in the space.

"The country has seen many governments which believed in sloganeering but for the first time it has seen a decisive government which knows how to fulfill its commitments," he said.

"Be it land or sky or space, the government of your 'chowkidar' has shown courage to conduct surgical strikes," Modi added, while referring to Balakot air strikes and launch of an Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) missile.

He said some opposition leaders had become a "hero" in Pakistan by raising doubts over India’s actions.

Modi said his government had shown courage with "surgical strikes" not only on the land and from the sky but also in space.

Today’s was the first election rally of Modi for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since the announcement of the April-May Lok Sabha polls by the Election Commission.
