New Delhi: The voting for the 5th phase of Lok Sabha elections are set to begin on Monday at 7am. This phase will witness voting on 51 seats, which is smallest number of seats among all phases.


The voting is also going to take place on Shopian and Pulwama district of the Anantnag seat of Jammu and Kashmir.  Also, 9.39% of total Lok Sabha constituency is going for polls in this phase, where fate of 674 candidates hangs in balance.

Among these candidates, there are several prominent leaders as well. Below are all the famous candidates going to poll today.

Rajnath Singh: Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is currently an MP from Lucknow, is set to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Lucknow seat again. Congress has fielded Acharya Pramod from Lucknow, to battle against Rajnath.

Sonia Gandhi: UPA president Sonia Gandhi is contesting from her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli, where the party has had a strong hold for years.  

Rahul Gandhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi is contesting the polls from two seats. First will be his parliamentary constituency Amethi, where the voting is taking place today  and the second would be Wayanad seat in Kerala, where his party has had a strong hold since years. Rahul won from his Amethi seat in 2014 by winning 408,651 votes and getting 46.71% vote share. This year, he is battling against Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Smriti Irani: BJP leader and current Textile Minister Smriti Irani is contesting against Congress President from Amethi, where the voting is taking place today. Irani contested the 2014 general elections against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Irani lost to Gandhi by 1,07,923 votes, a 12.32% margin. In spite of losing to Gandhi, Irani still found her way to power via Rajya Sabha.
