A group of American Sikhs on Sunday joined the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bandwagon in the US state of Maryland, asserting their support for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, news agency ANI reported.
In a show of support for the PM Modi, scores of American Sikhs conducted a car rally in Maryland, while BJP supporters overseas also organised a similar rally in Atlanta.
In Atlanta, as many as 150 cars participated in the rally, all decked up with BJP and Indian national flags. Placrads were put up on vehicles, reading "Abki baar 400 par, Teesri baar Modi Sarkar." While in Maryland, the vehicles in the rally were decked up with BJP and the United States flags.
On Sunday, PM Modi kickstarted the BJP's poll campaign for Lok Sabha Election in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. During the rally, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the achievements of the BJP government, citing the construction of the Ram Temple and the revocation of Article 370 as notable accomplishments. He further pledged that the next five years would focus on empowering women if the BJP secures victory in the elections.
Election Commission of India on March 16 released the schedule of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. In its announcement, the apex poll body stated that the Lok Sabha polls will be held from April 19 to June 1, 2024. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be conducted in seven phases. The counting of votes for the 18th Lok Sabha elections will be held on June 4.
