The former Tamil Nadu CM and ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam, who has not faced any defeat in Assembly Elections, is set to contest the Lok Sabha election in alliance with the BJP in an independent symbol. The NDA has allotted Ramanathapuram constituency for the leader. With this, OPS said that he would file his nomination in Ramanathapuram constituency. OPS will be contesting against DMK's alliance candidate and IUML's sitting MP Navas K Kani.
OPS also said that he would contest the next election under two-leaf symbol after the final verdict of the case related to the symbol.
According to ANI, ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam said, "Cases related to the two-leaf symbol are pending in court. The final verdict will be in our favour and we will contest the next election under the two-leaf symbol. I am going to file my nomination for the Ramanathapuram parliamentary seat on Monday. Please wait and see our election manifesto."

OPS is a sitting MLA in Bodinayakkanur. He has won the Assembly elections continously from 2001 to 2021 for five times. He has served as Periyakulam MLA in 2001 and 2006 and as the MLA of Bodinayakkanur in 2011, 2016 and 2021.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when AIADMK faced massive defeat, OPS' son OP Raveendranath was the lone winner in Theni Lok Sabha seat.
OPS has the massive support of Thevar, a caste group, and vote base in the state.
