Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023: Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) have geared up campaigning the state of Madhya Pradesh as it is scheduled to vote after ten days, on Nov 17. Party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed a rally in the Kukshi town of Dhar district and questioned the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government for "lack of employment" in the state. She said the big businessmen don't create anything and have ended up small and medium businesses effectively ending the employment for the people of the state.

"The industries built by the hard work of people were handed over to them (industrialists) at dirt cheap prices. Whether BHEL, HAL or the Railways, which provided employment, were handed over to them," Gandhi said.

Slamming the Goods and Services Tax, she said it has only added to the inflation woes of the people. She said women have to contain themselves from buying things they like just because of the "rising inflation".

Taking a jibe at the BJP, she said" BJP used to ask Sachin ne century mar li, pyaz kab century marega (Sachin has scored century, when will onion hit the century). Now, I want to ask, Virat ne century mar li aur pyaz ki b century ho gai (Virat has scored a ton, and onion too).

Priyanka will be addressing another rally in Indore later in the day.

This comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that Congress has intentions of turning the state into an "ATM" for generating funds for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While addressing a rally in MP's Khandwa on Sunday, Modi stated that the Congress was focused on the development of a single family.

"Congress means to put the development vehicle in reverse gear. Don't get the misconception that they have improved over the years, but instead, their hunger has increased... First-time voters should be careful as you have not seen their rule. You are not aware of their dangerous game," the PM said while cautioning first-time voters in the state.

In her rally in the state's Damoh district last week (Oct 28), Priyanka had labelled the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government in the state as a "poor job creator". She claimed that only 21 jobs were given by the state government in the last three years which remained in "power of 18 years".

"The Madhya Pradesh government has given just 21 jobs in the last 3 years. It is a sad situation that the state government which has been in power for the past 18 years, is such a poor job creator," she said, adding that various posts including that of doctors are lying vacant in the state while eligible and deserving candidates are waiting for the government to take steps.
