Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticised Narendra Modi highlighting unfulfilled promises such as the pledge of Rs 15 lakh per family and doubling farmers' income. Kharge questioned Modi's credibility, suggesting that his "guarantee" is synonymous with failing to deliver on assurances.
According to ANI, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, "...Narendra Modi had said that I will give Rs 15 lakh to every family. I will bring back the black money that Congress has kept abroad. Where is that money? ...In the next election, he said that I would double the income of farmers. Where is the double income of farmers?"
"Now he is again saying Modi's guarantee...What is Modi's guarantee? Modi's guarantee is that he will not fulfil the promises he is making...This is Modi's guarantee," he said.

Kharge also declared his commitment to remain in politics until his last breath to "defeat" the ideologies of the BJP and RSS.
The Congress has nominated Kharge’s son-in-law, Radhakrishna Doddamani, as its candidate from Kalaburagi, which is scheduled for polls on May 7.
Last year, BJP Udupi district president, Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, clarified that Modi did not promise to deposit Rs 15 lakh into every individual's bank account. Instead, Nayak explained that Modi referred to the substantial amount of black money held in foreign banks, suggesting that it could potentially be distributed to individuals at a rate of Rs 15 to 20 lakh per person.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also clarified that it was an 'idiom' and should not be taken seriously.
