Mumbai: AIMIM leader Waris Pathan on Monday broke down at a press interaction saying that he was being stopped for fighting for the people. The Bhiwandi West candidate for Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM said the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Election could be his last.

"This could be my last election. I don't know whether I'll be here or not after five years. My fault is that I am fighting for everyone. I raise my voice for all. That's why they are stopping me? At the last moment, they cancelled my rally. They are troubling me, and I'm facing issues with the administration. All the politicians are against me, trying to stop me. But Allah will grant me victory, and the people of Bhiwandi will make me win," Waris Pathan said.

He alleged that his opponents were trying to stop him from campaigning. Waris Pathan became emotional saying that his campaign rally was being deliberately denied permission.

Waris Pathan has said that all the Opposition candidates had banded together as they know that only he can defeat the BJP. We have the support of the common people and victory will be ours," he said

In a press conference held on Sunday night with just a few hours left for the assembly election campaign, Waris Pathan broke down and said: "I have come to change this city of Bhiwandi. I have come here to ensure better health facilities, cleanliness, and education. I am trying to do a good job; that's my fault. All my Opponents, as well as the BJP, are trying to stop me. Knowing that only I can defeat BJP, all opposition candidates have united with the BJP. But I have the support of the common people."

Bhiwandi West constituency in Thane district is being contested by the Congress on behalf of the Maha Vikas Aghadi. Congress leader Dayanand Motiram Choraghe has been nominated from the constituency. The constituency has a 52% Muslim population.
