Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday launched a blazing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 'Ek Hai, To Safe Hai' remark at a rally in Maharashtra on Friday. Raut said: "I don't understand the need for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use such language. Their previous slogan 'Batenge toh katenge' failed in Maharashtra. So now, they have introduced this new slogan."
"People are already safe in Maharashtra, but whenever you [PM Modi] visit, the state becomes unsafe... because he instigates people and provokes unrest. This why we need to remove the BJP," Raut further said.
What PM Modi Said At Maharashtra Election Rally
Earlier, on Friday, while addressing a crowd at his rally in Dhule, North Maharashtra, PM Modi said: "The sole agenda of the Congress party is to make one caste fight against another. They do not want SCs, STs, and OBCs to progress and get their due recognition; Remember, 'Ek hai toh safe hai'." The remarks came after Yogi Adityanath's slogan of 'batenge to katenge' ("If divided, we perish") which has drawn the Opposition's ire.
Further attacking Congress, Modi remarked, "Since Nehru's time, the Congress and his family opposed reservation and now their fourth-generation yuvraj (prince) is working for caste divisions," referring to Rahul Gandhi. The Prime Minister also accused the opposition bloc, INDIA, of seeking to remove the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir, stating that no power could reinstate Article 370 in the Union Territory.
Sanjay Raut Attacks Raj Thackeray
Sanjay Raut also attacked Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray. Raut said that Raj Thackeray is merely reading the script handed to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Raj Thackeray, the Bharatiya Janata Party, Devendra Fadnavis ... they are all close allies. Whatever script is handed to them, they simply read it. What would they know about the identity and pride of Maharashtra," Raut asked.
