Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale demanded a probe into the allegations against NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. On Tuesday, BJP alleged that the two INDIA bloc leaders conspired with a former police commissioner and a dealer to involve in illegal transactions in order to sway the election outcome to favour the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
The accusation came hours after the opposition accused BJP general secretary in Maharashtra, Vinod Tawde of being involved in a "cash for votes" scam.
Athawale said Tawde was being defamed and the Election Commission should probe the matter.
Mumbai City recorded a voter turnout of 15.78 per cent till 11 am, according to the Election Commission of India.
Malabar Hill reported the highest voter turnout at 1977 per cent while the lowest was in Sion-Koliwadi at 12.82 per cent.
Voter turnout in Dharavi was 13.28 per cent, 17.33 per cent in Wadala, 19.66 per cent in Mahim, 14.59 per cent in Worli, 16.49 per cent in Shivdi, 16.98 per cent in Byculla, 14.95 per cent in Mumba Devi, ad 13.03 per cent in Colaba.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray cast their votes in Mumbai and urged people to step out and exercise their franchise.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde cast his vote in Thane and asked people not to forget what happened in 2019. "Today is the festival of democracy and everyone should participate and vote and this will strengthen Maharashtra, democracy. People have not forgotten what happened in 2019, the mandate was for Mahayuti but Mahayuti could not form the government," Shinde said.
"People have seen their (Maha Vikas Aghadi) 2.5 years of rule and have also seen our 2.5 years of rule. We started the development that they had stopped. We started many schemes including Ladli Behna... Mahayuti will form the government with a huge majority," he added.
Supporters of Shiv Sena candidate Suhas Kande and Independent candidate Sameer Bhujbal clashed with each other in Nandgaon. NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal's nephew, Sameer is contesting the polls as an Independent after the Mahayuti fielded Kande from the constituency.
Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitin Gadkari cast his vote in Nagpur and exuded in the party's victory in the state.
"Maharashtra is a progressive and prosperous state of the country. This state receives the highest foreign investment and agricultural exports are also increasing here. It is a role model state for the country. A good government and good leadership can change the future of Maharashtra. Today is the festival of democracy, I appeal to the people to vote and exercise their democratic rights. We will win with a good majority in Maharashtra. People have to vote for development and the future of the state...," Gadkari said.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cast his vote along with his wife Amruta Fadnavis and mother Sarita Fadnavis in Nagpur.

Voting was halted at the Sant Kabir Primary School polling station in Madhya Nagpur Assembly Constituency due to a technical glitch in the EVM. The machine was repaired and voting resumed an hour later.
NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar cast his vote in Baramati as polling is underway on all 288 seats in Maharashtra. Speaking on the allegations against his daughter Supriya Sule, Pawar said: "...The person who made the allegations was in jail for several months and taking that person along and making false allegations, only BJP can do this."
Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi cast his vote in Girdih. "Everyone should exercise their franchise. This is a festival of democracy and we get this opportunity to vote for the development of the state once in 5 years. The main issues are infiltration, unemployment. CM Soren has betrayed the youth. We have appealed to the youth to support the NDA this time...," he said after casting his vote.
NCP leader and party candidate from Bandra East, Zeeshan Siddique cast his vote in Mumbai. The Congress turncoat remembered his slain father Baba Siddique saying, ""For the first time, I have come alone to vote. My father (Baba Siddiqui) is no more. This is different but this will have to be done. I know that my father is with me. I started my day by visiting the graveyard in the morning...I think everyone must vote..."

Amit, Raj Thackeray's son who is making his electoral debut said: "I would like to appeal to people to not take this as a holiday, get out and vote, this is for your country, state, city, you should just get down and vote, I can promise that your vote won't be taken for granted by me. The response is very positive, amazing, it was overwhelming for me,"

NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule cast her vote in Baramati, the family stronghold, for the Maharashtra assembly elections The constituency is once again witnessing a high-stakes contest between family members -- uncle Ajit Pawar and nephew Yugendra Pawar.
Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das cast his vote in Mumbai and expected a higher voter turnout. "The arrangements (at the polling station) were very good. I congratulate the Election Commission. The elections are being held in the middle of the week, so everyone is expecting a high voter turnout," he said.
NCP-SCP candidate from the family stronghold seat of Baramati, Yugendra Pawar who is taking on his uncle Ajit Pawar exuded confidence of winning the seat. "...I am 100% confident that the people of Baramati will not forget Sharad Pawar and will bless us," Pawar said.

Bollywood stars are marking their early presence as voting began for the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Actors Akshay Kumar and Rajkumar Rao reached their polling stations to cast vote as soon as the polling began at 7 am.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP candidate from Baramati, Ajit Pawar cast his vote in the constituency. "Even during Lok Sabha, members of our family were contesting against each other and everyone has seen that. I tried to meet everyone in Baramati. I am hopeful that this time the people of Baramati will make me victorious...The people of Baramati will think about it (money distribution allegations against Vinod Tawde)...," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for record participation as voting begins in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
"Today, votes will be cast for all the seats of Maharashtra Assembly elections. I urge the voters of the state to be a part of it with full enthusiasm and add to the splendor of the festival of democracy. On this occasion, I appeal to all the youth and women voters to vote in large numbers," said PM Modi in a post on X.
"Today is the second and last phase of the great festival of democracy in Jharkhand. I urge all voters to participate in it enthusiastically and create a new record of voting. On this occasion, I specially congratulate all my young friends who are going to vote for the first time. Your every vote is the strength of the state," he said in another post on the social media platform.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was among the first voters in Maharashtra who cast his vote as soon as the polls opened in the state. Highlighting the importance of voting in a democracy, Bhagwat said he cut short his programme in Uttarakhand to cast his vote.
Voting has begun for all 288 seats in Maharashtra and the remaining 38 of the 81 seats in Jharkhand.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief made it early to his polling station in Nagpur as he arrived to cast his vote before the polling started in the state.
Mock polling in various polling stations is underway in Maharashtra and Jharkhand ahead of the voting that will begin at 7 am.
The second phase of voting in Jharkhand will seal the fate of as many as 500 candidates including Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren and the Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri.
Polling will begin at 7 am across 14,218 polling stations in 38 constituencies and will continue till 5 pm barring 31 booths where it will end at 4 pm.
Constituencies that will undergo voting in the secong phase are in the Santhal Pargana region comprising six districts - Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahibganj and Pakur.
In the ruling Mahayuti alliance, the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting on 149 seats, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena is in the fray in 81 seats, while Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party has fielded candidates in 59 constituencies.
In the opposition camp, Congress will contest on 101 seats, Uddhav's Shiv Sena on 95 seats, and Sharad Pawar's NCP on 86 seats.
Smaller parties like Bahujan Samaj Party and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief are also in the fray with BSP fielding 237 candidates and AIMIM contesting on 17 seats.
A high-stakes battle awaits in Maharashtra where elections will be held for the 288-member Legislative Assembly in a single phase. It will be the first election between the ruling Mahayuti comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP and the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi consisting Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SCP).
Voting will also be held for the second phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections on 38 of the 81 seats.

Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024
Voting for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held today as the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance will battle it out with the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comprising Congress, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) to retain power in the state. The counting of votes is scheduled to be held on November 23.
A total of 4,136 candidates are contesting Maharashtra elections. These include 2,086 are Independents and 150 rebel candidates. The total number of candidates this year is up from the previous Assembly polls in 2019 in which 3,239 candidates were in fray.
The BJP is contesting in 149 seats, while CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar-led NCP will contest 81 and 59 seats respectively. In MVA, the Congress has fielded the highest number of candidates from 101 seats, followed by Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and NCP (SP), which has fielded 86 candidates.
The constituencies witnessing high stakes battle include Worli, Baramati, Vandre East, Nagpur South West, and Kopri-Pachpakhadi. Voting for the 288 seats will begin at 7 AM and end at 6 PM.
Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024
Voting for the remaining 38 constituencies will be held today in the second and final phase in Jharkhand, which will be held alongside Maharashtra polls on November 20. The electoral fate of 528 candidates, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren will be decided today.
The polling will start at 7 AM and will continue till 5 PM except for 31 booths, where it will conclude at 4 PM. Results will be announced on November 23.
The ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance are pitted against each other. While the BJP has fielded candidates in 68 seats, JMM has fielded candidates in 43 seats. Congress has fielded 30 candidates and is contesting in alliance with the ruling JMM.
Around 1.23 crore voters including 60.79 lakh women and 147 third gender voters are eligible to vote across 14,218 polling stations. 28 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates and nine for Scheduled Caste candidates.
Out of the 38 constituencies, 18 are in the Santhal Pargana region comprising six districts including Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, and Sahibganj.
