Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse, trails in Hassan constituency. Hassan has historically been a stronghold of the JD(S), often dubbed the 'Republic of JDS', due to the steadfast backing of the Vokkaliga community for the Gowda family.

Former CM Deve Gowda's rival late Minister G. Puttaswamy Gowda's grandson, 31-year-old Shreyas M. Patel, is contesting against Prajwal Revanna in this election. Patel, who narrowly missed winning the Holenarsipur Assembly seat against Prajwal's father, H.D. Revanna, by 3,152 votes in the previous year, is now setting his sights on securing victory at the national parliamentary level. According to the Election Commission of India, Congress candidate Shreyas Patel secured 655319 votes and was leading by 39443 votes.

In 2019, Prajwal Revanna secured victory over A Manju of the Bharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 1.4 lakh votes. Notably, JD(S) and BJP were not in an alliance during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, in the 2014 general elections, former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda had defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of one lakh votes in Hassan constituency.

On the early trends, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy said that the party received the results it expected but it is not happy about Hassan results. HD Kumaraswamy said, "JD(S) got the results that we had expected. But I am not happy about the results in Hassan. Overall, in Karnataka, we would have won another 4-5 seats but because of our mistakes, we lost more than 4-5 seats...People have shown Congress that JD(S) is still alive in Karnataka."
