Lok Sabha Elections: After days of high-octane campaigning, voting in 92 constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories commenced on Tuesday in the third phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The third phase will see over 1,300 candidates, including approximately 120 women, in the fray.






This phase is crucial for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured an overwhelming majority of these seats, including all in Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, in the 2019 polls.


Lok Saha Elections Phase 3 Voting: Here Are Top Points



  1. The third phase of voting in the ongoing polls will draw curtains on polling in more than half of the 543 Lok Sabha seats. 

  2. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the saffron party won 72 of the 93 seats going to the polls today, 26 of them in Gujarat alone.

  3. The states that are set to witness polling today include Assam (4 seats), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7), Goa (2), Gujarat (25), Karnataka (14), Madhya Pradesh (8), Maharashtra (11), Uttar Pradesh (10), West Bengal (4), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2).

  4. Among the key candidates are Union ministers Amit Shah, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala, Pralhad Joshi, and SP Singh Baghel.

  5. Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah are expected to cast their votes in Ahmedabad city under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Meanwhile, former Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Digvijaya Singh have returned to the electoral fray.

  6. Voting will also take place in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul, where the election due on Phase 2 was postponed after candidate from Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party died.

  7. Polling in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri constituency was postponed after the saffron party raised concern pertaining to the weather, which was forcing the closure of a tunnel connecting the two ends of the constituency.
