New Delhi: Actor-turned politician Hema Malini, who can these days be seen campaigning in the streets of Mathura for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections; on Monday said that she won’t be fighting the next elections.
Speaking to ABP News, Malini said “This is my last election, won’t contest polls next time”.
The BJP on Thursday released the list of candidates for 184 constituencies across the country. Hema Malini will contest from Mathura, her current parliamentary constituency.
On being given the Mathurs seat, Hema Malini thanked PM Modi and Amit Shah for choosing her to contest election from Mathura.
She said “People wanted me to contest from here again, I'm thankful to Amit Shah ji and Modi ji for choosing me again. I will work hard and bring development to the area. I'm not like other politicians, people here like my work”.
Congress has given its Mathura ticket to Mahesh Pathak, who is set to fight against Malini.
The voting for Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh is set to take place in 6 phases. The voting for first phase is taking place on April 11. Counting of votes for the same will take place on May 23.
