Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday asked BJP MP Varun Gandhi to join Congress after he did not get a Lok Sabha ticket from the saffron party. Alleging that it could be due to his "connection with the Gandhi family," Chowdhary stated: "He should come here. We would be happy. He is an educated man. He has a clean image. BJP denied him a ticket because he is related to the Gandhi family. I think he should come (to Congress)," he stated.

BJP Snubs Varun Gandhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party released its fifth list of 111 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on March 24. However, there was no good news in it for BJP MP Varun Gandhi as the saffron party dropped the sitting MP from Pilibhit and instead fielded former Congress leader Jitin Prasadia in his place. Prasadia had joined BJP in 2021.

However, BJP retained his mother and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi from Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur.

Pilibhit seat has been represented by the mother-son duo for over two decades now.

It is to be noted that Varun Gandhi had been openly criticising Narendra Modi led centre government. He had also been criticising the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh over various reasons including health and employment.

BJP Releases Fifth Candidates List

Among the 111 candidates name announced in the fifth list by the saffron party, some of the prominent names included actor Kangana Ranaut and industrialist Naveen Jindal who joined the party on March 24.

The list of candidates from Uttar Pradesh also included Arun Govil for Meerut, Atul Garg for Ghaziabad, Durvijay Shakya for Budaun, Satish Gautam for Aligarh, Sarvesh Singh for the Moradabad, and Rajvir Singh Diler for Hathras seat, among others.
