New Delhi: The stage is all set for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 to unfold tomorrow, in which 95 parliamentary constituencies spread over 11 states and one Union Territory will go to the polls. The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases, from April 11 to May 19. The results are to be announced on May 23.
Here is a look at the key faces in the fray for the second phase.
Uttar Pradesh:
The eight seats in Uttar Pradesh which will be going to polls tomorrow are Nagina, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra and Fatehpur Sikrti.
Nagina will witness a contest between sitting BJP MP Yashwant Singh, BSP’s Girish Chandra and Congress’ Omwati Devi Jatav. Amroha will see a contest between BJP’s Kanwar Singh Tanwar pitched against Congress’ Sachin Chaudhary and BSP’s Kunwar Danish Ali from Mahagathbandhan.
BJP’s Bhola Singh will be pitched against BSP’s Yogesh Sharma and Congress candidate Bansi Lal Pahadia, in Bulandshahr constituency, while in Aligarh BJP’s Satish Kumar Gautam will fight to retain his seat against BSP’s Ajeet Baliyan and Congress’ Chaudhary Bijender Singh.
In Mathura, BJP’s actor-turned-politician Hema Malini will seek re-election to the Lok Sabha, with her husband Dharmendra standing by her side during campaigns, in an attempt to draw Jat votes. However, it is said that she may face a tough contest this time from Congress' Mahesh Pathak, and alliance's Kunwar Narendra Singh.
In Fatehpur Sikri too, actor-turned-politician and UPCC chief Raj Babbar will be testing poll waters, against BSP’s Guddu Pandit and BJP’s Rajkumar Chahar.
In Agra, SP Singh Baghel will contest for Lok Sabha against BSP’s Manoj Soni and Congress’ Preeta Harit.
Bihar:
The key faces which will be in fray in Bihar Lok Sabha polls, are JDU’s Mahmood Ashraf and Congress’ Mohammed Javed from the coalition’s side, in the Kishanganj seat.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar will be contesting against Dulal Chandra Goswami of JDU on Katihar seat.
In Purnia, JDU’s Santosh Kumar Kushwaha will seek re-election against Congress Uday Singh alias Pappu Singh.
Bhagalpur will witness contest between sitting MP Shailesh Kumar Mandal from RJD and JDU’s Ajay Kumar Mandal, while Banka will see Girdhari Yadv versus Jaiprakash Kumar Yadav.
Assam:
At the crucial Silchar seat, Congress’ Sushmita Dev who is the current MP, will contest against BJP’s Rajdeep Roy.
Jammu and Kashmir:
National Conference chairman and the sitting MP from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah will seek re-election. He will contest against BJP’s candidate Sheikh Khalid Jehangir who is also the party’s Jammu and Kashmir affairs spokesperson.
BJP’s Jitendra Singh will fight to save his turf Udhampur against Congress Vikramditya Singh.
Karnataka:
The Congress-JDS alliance as decided to field JDS President and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda in fray with BJP’s G S Basavraju at Tumkur seat, which earlier belonged to Congress.
In Hassan, from where Deve Gowdawon the 2014 general polls, JDS had fielded Prajwal Revanna.

Lok Sabha Elections second phase: 95 parliamentary constituencies spread over 11 states and one Union Territory will go to the polls under the second phase of the seven-phase general elections.
The second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be held on Thursday, April 18.
