Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: As the Lok Sabha election results unfold today, June 4, the BJP-led NDA is heading towards a majority. However, the situation is not entirely conducive for the Narendra Modi-led BJP. While the saffron party has emerged as the single largest party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with a lead or win on 239 seats, it crosses the magic figure only with the support of NDA partners. There are already murmurs that NDA allies Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janata Dal (United) (JDU) are being approached by the INDIA bloc.

Should these NDA partners decide to move out, it would push the BJP out of central government. Even if they remain, the BJP will no longer hold the ultimate control over their fate to stay in power. Given that the Lok Sabha poll was largely contested on Narendra Modi's leadership, the opposition has seized the moment to declare that the mandate is against him, urging his resignation.

On Tuesday evening, Congress and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) intensified their attack on Narendra Modi, demanding that he accept the people's mandate and resign immediately.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in a press conference, stated that the ruling party sought votes based on "one person, one face," labelling the outcome as their political and moral defeat.

"This is the public's result and the victory of democracy. We have been saying that this battle is between the public and Modi. We humbly accept the people's mandate. This time, the public did not give a majority to any one party," Kharge said.

TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee also called for Modi's resignation, stating, "I am happy that the Prime Minister did not get the majority figure. The Prime Minister has lost credibility. He should resign immediately because he had said that this time they would cross 400 seats."

As per the latest trends, the NDA alliance is ahead on 294 seats, while the I.N.D.I.A bloc is leading over 231 seats. Congress is ahead on 99. The BJP is leading in 239 seats.
