Lok Sabha Polls: Samajwadi Party Candidates For Uttar Pradesh
The Samajwadi Party announced its candidate lists, covering 48 constituencies across Uttar Pradesh through seven lists. In adherence to a seat-sharing arrangement with the SP, the Congress has secured candidacy in 17 parliamentary seats within the state. Additionally, the All India Trinamool Congress has been designated to contest in the Bhadohi constituency. Notably, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the SP allied with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), securing victory in five seats, reported PTI.
While the BSP clinched ten seats, the RLD failed to secure any. However, this electoral season sees the BSP contesting independently, while the RLD has aligned with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Uttar Pradesh is poised for polling across eight parliamentary constituencies, including Bijnor and Moradabad, during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for April 19.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
Uttar Pradesh sends the highest number of members to Lok Sabha- 80. Hence, this will be a crucial state for the I.N.D.I.A bloc which wants to unseat the BJP. In 2019, BJP won 62 of the 80 seats.
