Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) has emerged as the kingmaker in Bihar as the results for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 unfold on Tuesday.


As per the latest trends on the Election Commission website, JD(U) is leading in 15 out of 40 seats, while its ally Bhartiya Janata Party is leading on 13 seats.


Bihar sends 40 Members of Parliament to the 543-member Lok Sabha. In this election, the BJP, JDU(U) and Lok Janshakti Party led by Chirag Paswan are in alliance to take on Mahagathbandhan, which includes RJD, Congress and left parties.


The opposition alliance is leading in six seats in the state with Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD leading in 3 seats, CPI(ML) in 2 and Congress one. 


Some of the leading candidates from the NDA include- Union Minister Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Jitan Ram Manjhi of Hindustani Awam Morcha from Gaya, Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) from Jamui, Rajiv Ranjan from Janata Dal (United) from Munger, Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib and Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Saran.


Prominent opposition figures who are leading in the state include- RJD candidates Misha Bharti from Patliputra and Surendra Prasad Yadav from Jehanabad, and CPI(ML)'s Raja Ram Singh from Karakat.


However, Rohini Acharya, Lalu's daughter who is an RJD nominee from Saran Lok Sabha constituency, is trailing by around 15,000 votes over her nearest rival and BJP candidate Rajiv Pratap Rudy. 


In the Karakat Lok Sabha seat, Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh was contesting as an Independent candidate against NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha and I.N.D.I.A bloc candidate Raja Ram Singh. 


Counting is underway at more than 36 centres in the state. Polling was held for those seats in seven phases between April 19 and June 1.


The exit poll survey had predicted NDA heading for a thumping victory with 34-38 seats out of 40 seats in Bihar, while the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc getting 3-5 seats, according to ABP-CVoter survey.
