JDS-Congress too reached the Raj Bhavan after BJP and staked their claims.
While JDS is going strong with the support of Congress, BJP is claiming that it is the single largest party and therefore it should form government.
Yeddyurappa said: “We have emerged the single largest party in the elections. We will 100% form the government.”
As Yeddyurappa exited, JDS' Kumaraswamy entered the Raj Bhavan to meet the governor. He was accompanied by Siddaramaiah, Ghulam Nabi Azad, DK Shivakumar and other MLAs.
Congress and JDS have claimed majority with the support of 118 MLAs together.
Hours ago Congress agreed to make Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister after the alliance JDS then accepted Congress’ offer and gave a nod for the alliance. Together Congress and JDS have the required numbers to get majority. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already resigned from his post. He met Governor Vajubhai Vala and handed over his resignation, PTI reported.
However as per sources, enraged over making JDS' Kumaraswamy the CM candidate, 7 MLAs of Congress are in talks with BJP and may soon flip parties.
BJP is close to majority with 105 seats while Congress has been limited to 78. JDS has 38 seats.
The final result has not yet been declared formally and the parties have already started presenting their claims for the formation of government. Elections were held on 222 seats in Karnataka. Parties need 112 seats at least to get clear majority.
