The manifesto promised allocation of Rs 1.5 lakh crore for irrigation projects and waiver of farm loan up to Rs one lakh borrowed from nationalised and cooperative banks. A scheme to provide Rs 25,000 and three grams of gold for brides coming under the BPL category during the marriage and opening of "Annapoorna Canteens" has also been promised. "Go Seva Ayog" aimed at cow protection will also be revived.
To woo voters in ahead of polling for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, today BJP’s Smriti Irani and Yogi Adityanth will also be conducting public rallies and meetings.
On April 27, Congress released its “People’s Manifesto” where Congress president Rahul Gandhi described it as the “voice of the people of Karnataka” and not a document prepared by “three or four people in a closed room”. Modi had called Congress manifesto a bundle of lies.
On Thursday, Attacking Narendra Modi for letting the farmers down in Karnataka, Congress President Rahul Gandhi in a report card gave the Prime Minister an 'F' Grade for his performance in the agricultural sector in the state. Modi also accused the Congress of "insulting national heroes" and the Indian Army after the 2016 surgical strike.
Elections in the state are scheduled for May 12. The Karnataka Assembly has 225 members including one nominated.
