New Delhi: A day after full-scale war of words broke out between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BSP Chief Mayawati over the Alwar gang rape incident with the Prime Minister accusing Mayawati of "shedding crocodile tears", BSP Chief on Monday said “Modi is playing dirty politics over Alwar gangrape case”.

"In the wake of this (Alwar) incident, Modi is doing dirty politics. The BSP will for sure take an appropriate political decision in the absence of stringent and proper legal action in the case," Mayawati said in a press note responding to the prime minister's challenge to her to withdraw support to the Congress government in Rajasthan.
The Congress government in Rajasthan has been accused by both the prime minister and the BSP supremo of brushing the case aside for political gains. After Modi's barb, Mayawati retorted with a list of incidents on which she said the prime minister should take moral responsibility and resign from his post.
"TheBSP will take a required political decision soon, but why is PM Modi not taking moral responsibility for the incidents in the past, such as Una flogging incident, Rohit Vemulla case or other cases pertaining to Dalit atrocities? Why is he not resigning?" the BSP press note issued in Lucknow said.

He further said that “I got to know that married women in BJP are afraid of taking their husbands close to PM Modi as they fear that Modi doesn’t separate our husbands from us, like he left his wife”.

Addressing election rallies in Uttar Pradesh Deoria and Kushinagar on Sunday Modi dard Mayawati to withdraw support from Congress in Rajasthan if she was really serious about the incident.

On April 26, a rape victim was travelling on a bike with her husband when the accused stopped them, took the couple to an isolated place, thrashed him and raped the woman again in front of her husband. He further threatened them of dire consequences if they dared to report the incident.

The victim’s husband had claimed that he approached the police to file an FIR in the case, but the same wasn’t filed till May 2. As per his claims police refused to file report saying they were busy with elections.
