Background
Himachal Pradesh Results 2022 Winners HIGHLIGHTS: Hello and welcome to the ABP Live blog for all the latest updates on winning candidates of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022. The elections to 68-member Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly took place on November 12 with a total voter turnout of over 75 per cent.
The two main parties in the state, BJP and Congress fielded their candidates on all 68 seats while the AAP gave tickets to its candidates for 67 seats followed by Bahujan Samaj Party on 53, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party on 29, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on 11, Himachal Jan Kranti Party on 6, and others on 9 seats.
Voters in Himachal Pradesh have followed a trend of electing BJP and Congress alternatively to power every five years and the Congress drove its campaign this time on the same asserting that history would repeat itself and the BJP would be ousted from power. However, the BJP exuded confidence saying that the 'tradition' would change this time and voters would give them another consecutive term in the state.
Himachal Pradesh BJP president Suresh Kashyap said heavy voting by the women electorate and the overall 76.61 per cent polling in the assembly elections was an indication that the saffron party would again form the government in the state, stated a report by news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Naresh Chauhan too claimed that the grand-old party will get a majority in the assembly and the results would be much more favourable for it than projected in exit polls.
The ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll Results 2022 projected a seat range of 33 to 41 for the BJP while the Congress was estimated to get 24 to 32 seats and AAP may not get a chance to open its account in the hill state.
With independents pegged to get 0 to 4 seats, they are set to play a big role in both scenarios, as has been the case in the past in Himachal.
