The convoy of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) chief Dushyant Chautala and Azad Samaj Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad was attacked while they were campaigning for the Haryana Assembly elections in Uchana. The unidentified people pelted stones at the vehicle. A case was registered by the police and further investigation is being carried out. The rear glass of the car of Chandrashekhar Azad was broken in the attack.
The JJP and Chandra Shekhar Azad-led Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) recently announced their alliance for the Haryana Assembly polls. The JJP will contest 70 of the 90 Assembly seats, while the Azad Samaj Party will contest 20 seats.
Voting for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana will take place on October 5 from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Chautala is seeking a re-election from the Uchana Kalan seat in the Jind district. In the 2019 elections, Dushyant Chautala defeated Prem Lata, the wife of veteran leader Birender Singh, who was with the BJP at that time. Ex-Union minister Birender Singh, and his son Brijendra Singh — a former Hisar MP — are now with the Congress.
The alliance has promised to procure all grains at MSP, unemployment allowance of ₹11,000 and old age pension of ₹5,100 per month. It has also promised ₹25,000 per acre compensation for crop damage and said the ‘Jannayak Fasal Suraksha Scheme’ will be started for farmers, in which premium amount will be borne by the state government. Among other promises, unemployed youth will be given ₹11,000 monthly unemployment allowance and old age pension will be given at the rate of ₹5,100 per month.
The alliance said students from rural areas will be given extra weightage in jobs and admission to higher education.
A scooty will be given to girls of poor families who have passed Class 12 exams and student union elections will be conducted directly every year.
