Haryana Election Results: After an initial dampener, the BJP on Tuesday made huge strides in the trends as the vote counting went on in the morning. The BJP, which was trailing behind the Congress by 40 seats at one point after the counting began at 8 AM, suddenly looked to be on the path to a win path as its lead went up in 46 seats and the Congress's lead fell to 37 at 9:55 AM.
For the Congress, Vinesh Phogat and Bhupinder Singh Hooda were in the lead. However, Randeep Surjewala's son Arjun Surjewala fell behind. For the BJP, Anil Vij Shruti Vhaudry, Nayab Singh Saini, and Aarti Singh Rao were in the lead at the time.
However, the Congress quickly shook off the scare midway through the counting as its lead picked up to 41 seats and the BJP's lead fell to 41 at 10:05, with Anil Vij trailing in Ambala Cantonment.
In two minutes the scene completely flipped as the BJP suddenly took a massive lead on 50 seats and the Congress fell behind the saffron party on 15 seats. At 10:10 AM Vinesh Phogat, who held on to the lead all morning, fell behind as the BJP's Yogesh Bairagi surged past her.
At 10:11, the BJP surged ahead on another seat and the Congress trailed in 34. The figure change 7 minutes later as Congress's lead was down to 31 and BJP's rose to 54.
The Haryana elections were held in all 90 constituencies of the state and recorded a 67.9% turnout of the total eligible 2,03,00,255 voters. The BJP had emerged as the single-largest party in 2019 but fell short of the majority by 6 seats. It managed to form the government with its 40 MLAs and the JJP's 10. Manohar Lal Khattar was sworn in as the CM, while the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress sat in the Opposition.
