Haryana Assembly Elections: A day after the BJP registered a historic win for the third time in a row in Haryana, two Independent MLAs joined the saffron camp in a major boost for the party. Independents Devender Kadyan and Rajesh Joon joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, October 9, at Union Minister and Haryana in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan's house in the presence of state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli. Later in the day, the third Independent MLA in the state Savitri Jindal also extended support to the BJP.

With this recent development, the seat tally of the BJP, which earlier stood at 48, has now increased to 51. Kadyan, a BJP rebel, had contested and won from Ganaur as an Independent. Joon, who defeated his BJP rival in Bahadurgarh, also joined the party today.

After the two MLAs joined the BJP, Haryana President Badoli addressed the media and welcomed the leaders to the saffron camp.

"48 candidates of BJP have won in the Haryana elections and 3 independent candidates have also won. Devender Kadyan and Rajesh Joon are sitting here with me. They have decided to extend support to BJP under the leadership of PM Modi...BJP now has a total of 50 MLAs in Haryana. I welcome both the independent MLAs to the party," Badoli said.

After joining the BJP, Independent MLA from Hisar, Savitri Jindal said: "For the development of Hisar, I have decided to support the BJP government."

Extending support to the BJP, Independent MLA from Bahadurgarh Rajesh Joon said that he made this decision as he likes the policies made by BJP and wants to work with the party to develop his constituency.

"I am extending support to BJP. I like BJP's policies and for the development of my constituency, I have decided to support them..."

The BJP had clinched an unexpected victory in the Haryana Assembly elections on Tuesday, leaving the Congress in shock. The party pulled a hat-trick as it comfortably crossed the halfwa mark with 48 seats. Congress, on the other hand, has rejected BJP's win and alleged irregularities in the EVMs and the vote counting process.

Earlier today, Hayana CM Nayab Singh Saini also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupdai Murmu in New Delhi.
