Haryana Assembly Elections: Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday released its third list of candidates. As per the list, Kanwar Singh Yadav will contest from Mahendragarh, Satish Fagna will from Faridabad NIT, and Rohtash Jangra will contest from Sirsa. With this, it is now clear that two leaders of the National Democratic Alliance will be pitted against each other in Sirsa in the upoming Haryana Assembly polls.

The BJP announced its candidate from Sirsa a day after Gopal Kanda, a two-time MLA from Sirsa and leader of Haryana Lokhit Party, declared that he would be contesting the elections for the fourth time from the constituency.

Earlier, it was being speculated that Kanda might align with the BJP, but he dismissed all the talks stressing that he will contest under HLP. He stated that even though HLP is part of the National Democratic Alliance, he would remain loyal to his party and contest under its symbol-- a 'ship'. "I will be contesting from Sirsa on the HLP’s symbol, ‘ship’. That is certain," Kanda told The Tribune.

Gopal Kanda's brother Gobind had also hinted that he wanted to contest from Fatehabad under the saffron party's ticket. However, Durga Ram was chosen in his stead. Gopal Kanda said that his brother might not contest in polls this time to manage the campaigning.

On Tuesday, BJP had released its second list of 21 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections. The party dropped six sitting MLAs, including two ministers. Tickets were also given to two Muslim leaders. With its second list, the party had declared candidates for 87 out of 90 seats. The remaining three were announced today in its third list.

Haryana Assembly elections will be held on October 5 and the counting of votes will be done on October 8.
