The Congress party has released a list of nine candidates for ensuing the first phase of Gujarat assembly elections, scheduled to take place on December 1.
In a press release the party said, “The candidates selected by the Central election Committee of Congress for ensuing first phase of elections to the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. “
The nine names on the list are – Malubhai Kandoria from Dwarka, Mansinh Dodiya from Talala, Mahesh Makwana from Kodinar, Revatsinh Gohil from Bhavnagar Rural and Baldev Majibhai Solanki from Bhavnagar East.
Ramesh Mor from Botad seat, Sanjay Solanki from Jambusar, Jaykantbhai B Patel from Bharuch and Kishanbhai Vestabhai Patel from Dharampur constituency also feature on the list of those entrusted for ensuing the first phase of voting in the state.
Gujarat will go to polls in two phases on December 1 and December 5 and the results will be declared on December 8.
Voting for the 68 assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh concluded on Saturday with 66% voter turnout till 5 PM. Tashigang, the world's highest polling station at a height of 15,256 feet in Lahaul and Spiti district, saw a 100 per cent turnout. Counting of votes for Himachal Pradesh will be done alongside Gujarat on December 8.
Earlier in the day, Congress released its manifesto for the Gujarat assembly polls promising 10 lakh jobs, debt waiver to farmers, gas cylinder at Rs 500 and 300 free units of electricity. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot released the manifesto with other senior party leaders in Ahmedabad. The grand old party also promised to rename Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to Sardar Patel Stadium, if it comes to power.
