Goa Elections 2022: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut announced that his party will fight the upcoming elections in alliance with Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). There is going to be a discussion on the seat-sharing formula between the two parties and the final list is likely to be announced today.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told ANI on Sunday that there will be a discussion on seat-sharing between the two parties on January 18.

It has to be noted that there were speculations about Congress offering some seats to Shiv Sena and NCP in Goa. Sanjay Raut had also met former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi regarding this, but as it turns out, Congress, the alliance partner in Maharashtra, will fight the election alone. Raut said that the 'Congress has its own compulsions' with seat-sharing in Goa.

But now it is clear that Shiv Sena and NCP will contest the elections separately from Congress.

Shiv Sena is putting its weight behind Utpal Parrikar, the son of former Goa CM, Manohar Parrikar. He tweeted saying, "If Utpal Parrikar contests Independent from Panaji seat, I propose all non-BJP parties including AAP, Congress, TMC and Goa Forward Party  shd support his candidature & not field a candidate against him."

"This will be a true tribute to ManoharBhai!" he added.

The seat-sharing formula will be clear today. "Our list of candidates is ready. The seat-sharing will be discussed on 18th January and after that, we will announce the list of candidates," Sanjay Raut said.

Goa Assembly Election will be conducted in one phase, i.e. in the second phase of the Assembly Elections 2022. The date of polling in Goa is February 14, 2021.
